Flux disappears during setup - help!
-
I have downloaded f.lux multiple times now only for it just to randomly disappear right as i try to put in my location! Every single time i have gone back to my downloads, redid the setup only for everything to disappear right as i try to put in any info! Please help, its getting really annoying. Ive already updated my drivers and restarted.
Thanks - jrock -
Do you mean the f.lux window closes and minimizes to the Notification Area? Or could some anti-virus type of program be blocking it? Of course, that would be an awfully late block.

@TwoCables when the location box shows up you see the f.lux logo thing next to the wifi, audio, etc. But soon after after doing anything in the location box, everything related to flux just disappears on my screen.

Then it might be becoming one of the hidden icons down there. Take a look at the rest of the hidden icons to see if f.lux is there. If it is, you can click & drag it out to where the other little icons are.

@TwoCables No it doesnt seem to be in there (if this was infact what you ment by the hidden icons).

Then maybe one of your security programs is blocking it. I do see one that has an exclamation point icon on it. What's that all about?

What's your antivirus @jrock ? Can you update your definitions and try again?
-
@lorna Im not using one, Windows Defender is on my computer, but i have it turned off. And when you say definitions what exactly do you mean. :P

"Definitions" refers to the program's internal list of known threats.
What's that shield icon for then? Is that Defender? Is the little exclamation point icon on it telling you that it's disabled but it recommends that you enable it?

@jrock Virus definition definition: http://articles.winferno.com/antivirus/virus-definitions/
When you put in the info, what happens exactly? If you open task manager, and open the Processes tab, is there a f.lux.exe running?

LOL
Sorry. Carry on. I couldn't resist.
-
@TwoCables Yes that's Windows Defender saying it's got a message.
-
@lorna No flux is not running (in task manager), and yes Defender is asking me to enable it.
-
@jrock Let's see. What version of Windows? Anything we should know about your system (do you have a USB monitor for example)? And are you using the beta or the main version of f.lux? (Does the other one work better?)
-
@lorna Nothing abnormal to my computer then most others, running Windows 10, and ive tried with the beta version and the normal version - the same exact thing happens.
