Solved: F.lux doesn't work on windows 7
-
I have installed windows 7 ultimate x86 on my laptop and then installed f.lux but it doesn't work, brightness remains the same. Why is this happening?
-
Do you mean that you see no change to the color temperature even if f.lux is set to like 3400K at night?
What happens if you manually adjust the sliders. I mean, if f.lux is in Daytime mode, then slide the Daytime slider all the way to the left. Or if it's in Night mode, slide the Night slider all the way to the left.
Finally: have you set your Location in f.lux?
-
I've tried everything, color temperature doesn't change even if I test the 24h preview.
-
You might have something else installed (perhaps something proprietary for the laptop) that's overriding f.lux. Or, not necessarily that the program is installed, but perhaps a setting in it needs to be changed. The problem is, I can't tell you any more without being able sit down at your laptop.
-
Well, you can't sit down at my laptop for sure. Thanks anyway, I wish someone could help because I love this application, I have installed it on my desktop and I wish I could have it on my laptop.

Is this a Lenovo laptop?
-
@TwoCables no, it's an Acer

Damn. Lenovo recently released an updated version of some software they have that is screwing with f.lux. I don't know about acer though. The feature Lenovo added is a blue light filtering option. So perhaps acer did the same thing.
-
@TwoCables Perhaps I could look into it

I hope that's the case. I know how I'd feel if I couldn't use f.lux.
-
@TwoCables I hope someone from f.lux could look into it and give me an answer

@lilapit Do you have your video card (Intel most likely) drivers installed? If you're not sure, try to go update them and install whatever update utility is required and see what it says.
-
@Tungsten_smooth where do I check that?
-
@Tungsten_smooth omg I checked my graphics card and it wasn't installed, now everything works just fine!
-
@lilapit You'd go to device manager, and "display adapters". Also, you can use the Direct X diag tool "dxdiag" and go to the "video" tab to see what hardware is running. This works well when you don't have a display driver.
