F.lux is tied to location, sunrise and sunset. I use a Microsoft Surface as an ereader and the soft warm whites are easier on the eyes. In the winter time, my bedroom is usually dark and I can be reading during the day when f.lux is not running.

Is there a way to have flux running all time or I tell it when to start and stop? I need more flexibilty than F.lux following sunset and sunrise schedules.

I did a search in this forum and noticed some users wanting the same functionality. It would be beneficial if F.lux gives the user more options and control when F.lux is active.

Yeah, you can control it manually. Just move the sliders.

You can also fake your location so that you can make f.lux be in the Night mode even if the sunset hasn't happened yet where you live.

@TwoCables yeah but it's a nuisance to do this twice a day. On my Android, i can't even fake my location. Actually when the gps is off, flux is stuck on searching. Pop up a message to turn it on.

To Flux team: Just add a start and end times for people who have non location based preferences. This location thing is one of those features that try to be helpful but end up getting in our way for some of us

I guess I don't find it to be a nuisance at all because I've been controlling f.lux manually for a few years now. I enjoy it.

@TwoCables What can I say. Some people do the same thing all the time when they don't know it can be automated. Because it's not a nuisance to you, it shouldn't be a nuisance to anybody else in the world? That doesn't make sense. People have different levels of tolerance and some of us know how something can be improved.

It can be an option for users who need it. Users who don't need it don't have to use it.

I know it can be automated, but I just like doing things myself when I can.

You're taking offense and you shouldn't. I never tried to imply that it shouldn't be a nuisance to others just because it's not a nuisance for me. I was merely trying to show you where I'm coming from because I had the impression you felt that it's a nuisance for everyone else too. That's all. I meant no harm.
