Is Darkroom mode supposed to make my screen red?
-
I saw some pictures of darkroom mode on google and they are all red, however when i turn this option on my screen just looks like it decreased the brightness(something along the lines of it),the color tones remained the same,is something not working properly?
I am using a benq xl2411z monitor if it helps(TN panel)

Yes, it's supposed to look like you are in a Dark Room that you use for developing photos on negatives that aren't sensitive to red light.
You probably have something overriding f.lux.

cant think of anything, just have my nvidia driver installed for anything monitor related

Damn. I do too, and I tried a test that I thought would reproduce this, but it didn't.
My test was, I switched the setting here: Adjust desktop color settings > Choose how color is set. I changed it to "Use NVIDIA Settings". As expected, this overrides my color profile but not f.lux. F.lux still works and so does Darkroom Mode. I thought for sure this would be the culprit too.
So, I don't know. Try it anyway I guess. Maybe you have "Use NVIDIA Settings" selected and maybe you should choose "Other applications control color settings" instead.

@TwoCables just tried both things, still not working

Yeah, if anything in the NVIDIA Control Panel would have ended up being the culprit, then it would have been the setting called "Use NVIDIA Settings" under "Choose how color is set."
In f.lux, have you ever expanded the range so that you can go lower than 3400K?
-
yes, everything was expanded when i installed it,tried all options

So, you clicked "Expand Range" pretty much right away? That's already done?
(I have no idea if this would be the culprit because I've never used f.lux without expanding the range)

@TwoCables god im such an idiot,i didnt restart my pc after installing flux so i didnt think it mattered,it works now

Oh wow! That's good to know. Yeah, f.lux makes certain changes to the Registry that require Windows to be restarted in order for those changes to take effect (there are some changes you can make to the Registry that take effect immediately, but not these!).
So this is very good because you just taught me some very useful information here. I should be able to pass this along to someone else in the future to help them out very quickly!

Alright I'm bumping this because I have a very weird issue related to this original glitch.
Mentioning @runakey and @TwoCables as they may have clues. So, after reading this thread we learned Darkroom mode made your screen turn red and black before reboot, and worked properly after reboot, which is fine, as the program states you need to reboot your PC for some functions to take place properly.
However, in my case, Darkroom mode worked properly BEFORE rebooting and gives the Red Screen AFTER rebooting. I have not been able to find a workaround or even anything related to this.
Any help?

@Maruhai Can you give us some details? Like OS version, GPU, graphics driver version. Version of f.lux would also be helpful to know.

Have you read this thread? Darkroom is supposed to be red and black!

They are saying it's nothing but red. It's washed out red. They can't really see anything. This problem was posted somewhere else on here and we had photos.

It turned my screen solid red with some solid black patches. Not like an overlay or filter. Solid completely opaque red, solid black. Not able to see anything on the screen (text etc..) Insert panic mode since I wasn't able to see anything on the screen in order to find the preferences in f.lux to turn it back off. Rebooting set it back to regular mode, not darkroom, so thankfully I could use my computer again.... I registered just to post this since it seems like such a massive error.
