How to find current release number and version number in Windows prior to install?
-
(OK, so this is two questions.)
I've searched the website, FAQ, News and Forum for information on the f.lux release history, release notes, etc. without success.
I download the installer, and check File Explorer -> Properties -> Details, but no version information appears.
I install from the latest download, and check Programs & Features, but version info is blank.
I search the app in vain for an About f.lux... entry. Then I notice what appears to be the currently installed version (mine is 3.10) next to the Exit menu entry in the hamburger pulldown. OK, not any of the standard methods, but now that I know...
Since I don't do automatic updates of all software, preferring more configuration control and security, how do I find out in my monthly checks for version currency whether I have the latest version installed? I see Forum post references to later versions (e.g., 3.11), but nowhere is that available for download that I can tell.
It shouldn't be this hard to find out what the current version is.

All you have to do is right-click f.lux's icon in the Notification Area and you will see the version number. It's that simple.
To get the latest version, enable automatic updates in f.lux and then exit f.lux completely and then launch it again. If that doesn't work, then just get it from here: https://justgetflux.com/ Download it, install it, and you're done.
It's all very easy.
