Submit feedback to Apple
-
I've been using F.lux for years on my Mac, and used it on iPhone when it was still a straightforward process.
I've resigned myself to using night shift the last couple of months, but it sucks, specifically because it's such a weak implementation of the f.lux concept.
If you're an iPhone user, please submit feedback (http://www.apple.com/feedback/) and ask Apple to increase their spectrum to include color temperatures down to 1000-2000K (candlelight). Their current implementation does not sufficiently reduce blue light enough to affect circadian rhythms. Hopefully if enough people request this they'll actually implement it.

@cpt.shenanigans We have learned that getting the timing right is just as critical - maybe more so - than dimming to the right colors.
If you are moved to write to Apple about this, we would greatly appreciate it if you'd let them know you want them to allow us to continue our research. After all, a copy can only hope to be almost as good as the original, and we believe we still have a lot of new work to do.
-
@lorna Have you written to them as well? Also do they respond to any feedback (like an email response)?
-
@Tungsten_smooth Well, our first conversation with them was in 2009, so...
-
@lorna Wow... I guess they're not great at working with others and helping out. I think they want to burn the bridge. I wish contacting google android devs was easy, I've only been able to do it once on G+ and that didn't go very far except for "there's dark mode on Android N". Have you had any luck with it?
-
Yeah done, it's been a while since I did this so about time for another go!

Can you expand on this please Lorna? How should we set up the timings for colour shift in relation to our sleep patterns?
