Oddly inconsistent (but brutal) flickering issue
-
Hi, I'm using Windows 8.1 and a fairly new Samsung TV (Model No 32D6000SF). When f.lux engages on this computer, it frequently causes flickering, kind of like the Mac people with El Capitan describe. What's odd is that it works fine on my netbook and OCCASIONALLY doesn't flicker on this computer, but frequently does. I cannot seem to pinpoint when it will or won't.
Specs:
Intel Core i7-4790
Under device managers, two things are listed:
Intel HD Graphics 4600
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760 Ti OEMPlease let me know if there is any other information I should provide, and thank you in advance!

N.B. I just rebooted the computer (step 2, right after "Is it plugged in?"), and the when f.lux opened with the rest of my startup programs, there was no flickering issue. Even if this fixes it, I'd like to not have to restart my computer at sunset every day.

@scarykoala Yep, there seems to be serious issues with mixing integrated Intel with Nvidia cards. I just responded to another person with the same issue. (I'm not checking users names at the moment so I'm assuming you're a different person.)
Try disabling the Intel graphics if you've got a discrete graphics card, why run both, that's most likely the problem. Most GPUs (even my old 660 Ti) run below 12 watts idle.

I will try that! Thanks a lot! And I don't post about the same issue twice. :P I did a search for my issue, but couldn't find it in anything other than the Mac forums. Must have been my mistake -- sorry!

@scarykoala No problem, I think it's just becoming a common issue for dual intel and discrete (large card) graphics. Mac had the issues first, and now Windows users and having the same issue, that's just odd timing.

I've heard there's a way to select which one is your primary graphics card. How do you do that, exactly? I can't seem to find a way. Again, it's a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760 Ti OEM (what I'd like to be primary) and a Intel HD Graphics 4600.
Thanks for your help!

@scarykoala Well, on Windows, I have absolutely NO idea. On mac there is a program to hold it to one device. I'd just suggest disabling intel altogether--it's just so confusing having both. The discrete will still pull power at idle (except in windows 10 with the updated drivers, it was in the changelog!) so I don't think there is ANY benefit to having both Intel and discrete graphics processors.
