Is there a way for me to manually adjust the night lighting setting to a level in between 1200k Ember and 1900k Candle? I'd say 1700k is my sweet spot. :)

          Thank you, JeanTapeta!

Yeah, unfortunately modifying this little part of the Registry (a part that's specific to f.lux) is the only way to do it. Fortunately, it's super easy.

It might also be possible though that your monitor emits too much blue. I have the Samsung 2253BW which is infamous for that (but famous for being a fairly good gaming monitor back in 2008). Using my monitor's onboard controls or Samsung MagicTune software, I can adjust the RGB levels independently. So when I set f.lux to something warm like 800K, I will also set my monitor's RGB levels to 50, 0 and 0 so that I have 50% red, 0% green and 0% blue.

@samaanata I like 1700K as well. I like that @TwoCables brought up monitor adjustments. TFTCentral may have your monitor model (or similar) and suggest reducing contrast, changing gamma, or most importantly, modifying the Red, Blue, Green values to get a better picture. I'd try taking down blue by 3.

Also, take down red by 2. You may leave green at 100, as it's just a great color, and with LED backlights, blue can be overpowering, and the green helps balance the colors a bit better.

You can't apply the exact same adjustments to every single monitor because not every monitor outputs the same color accuracy (or the same gamma, same brightness and same contrast, etc.). Some, like my Samsung 2253BW, produce way too much blue. So your recommended settings wouldn't work for me in the least bit.

@TwoCables Hey TwoCables, thought I'd ask you before I post a new topic. But along similar lines, do you know if there a way to customize f.lux's transition so that the duration of the transition can be somewhere between 20s and 1 hour?

                      Thanks :)

Unfortunately, there's no way to do that.
