Turn off quick start icon?
-
How do I turn off the " quick start icon " in the task bar?
-
It can't be done. The best you can do is hide it using the feature in Windows to hide icons in the Notification Area, but of course it hides all of the icons in a menu that's opened by a button which is an icon itself. So if the f.lux icon is the only icon that you hide, then you'd simply be replacing it with a button icon for the hidden icons menu.
Besides, the icon is useful for accessing f.lux features and making changes to it whenever you want. If you could get rid of the icon, then you have to get the f.lux interface opened the long way instead of simply clicking the Notification Area icon.

@Kenn1954 What I like to do, to get to a 40x40 size (instead of a tiny 16x16 in the tray) icon, is pin the f.lux app to the taskbar. It's in the flux folder in the start menu. Then you have this big nice icon to look at whenever you want to bring up the settings.

He doesn't need an icon. If he did, then he wouldn't be asking how to get rid of the one in the Notification Area. Besides, f.lux doesn't minimize to the Taskbar, so none of what you're saying here is a solution.

@TwoCables I know, but they may get the urge to change the settings, and will be reminded.

@Tungsten_smooth Thank you again....you answered my question!

How did he answer it? What are you going to be doing instead of getting rid of the icon in the Notification Area? Maybe I'll want to do what you're doing.

His opening statement was: " It can't be done. " So, unless I'm going to spend years learning how to write my own program, or " f.lux " magically decides to add this as a program option....I have to do something that I've learned during my 13+ years in sobriety / AA membership....." God, grant me the ability to accept the things I cannot change....." Happy Easter everyone!

Thank you. I think I see what happened though: he got a little confused.
