@lonelymoon The developer clearly doesn't care, and is never going to make another update. What's more amazing is how they kept lying to us for years that it's "right around the corner" and "we just need to understand human biology first". If they had just been honest and told us that it wasn't going to be made, then at least everyone could start looking for other alternatives.

@lonelymoon I like the Creator's update - it has the schedule, it doesn't interfere with nVidia settings, and it works with more of my games. I think f.lux really passed up a good opportunity - I doubt I will look at it ever again. All I wanted was that scheduling option.

@herf thanks, but no thanks. The creators update is out now and finally I don't need f.lux anymore. It was literally less than 50 lines of code to implement a feature that everyone wanted, and it was promised for two years. Surely it was possible to release this basic function without adding all that other stuff that's currently in the beta. But giving users what they wanted clearly wasn't on the list of priorities here.

@lorna Hi. This would have been really great to know 2 years ago! Forcing people into schedules they don't want without explaining why you're doing that is not a very good way to "further the understanding" of anything except frustration. If education really is your goal, you could try adding some explanation on your homepage. : )

Any of this discussion would be pointless IF:
There is manual schedule, in simplest form - start (hour:min , kelvin) , end (hour:min, kelvin).

                  Simple.

@archalien said in Custom sunset/sunruse schedule - default is not OK for me.:

For everyone watching and waiting, like I have.....Forever..... For such a simple request, yes it is quite simple(Im a 10 year software's engineer) your wait should be over soon as the creators update for Windows 10 coming in a couple months is reported to have this feature baked into the OS, f.lux unfortunately missed the opportunity to be the market leader by being slow or in this case totally unresponsive to user needs. I feel sad for f.lux team as they could have dominated the market here by being more mature and feature rich and building brand loyalty amongst it's user base, their inability to do so has relegated them to just a footnote in this space. 😢

You should see reports from on this feature from Windows insider preview builds I imagine fairly soon.

Is this feature out yet? How do you set it up?

This thread is really sad. I keep seeing responses about "wanting to learn more about human physiology", but the team seems completely ignorant to people living close to the arctic circle. I have to turn flux on and off myself, because it's not OK for me to get "ready for bed" at 4 pm. You guys with your quest to learn more about human physiology should've figured out that this kind of behavior can cause further disruptions to the circadian rhythm and contribute to Seasonal Affective Disorder. I want to get blased by blue light until I'm ready to get sleepy. That is not at 4 pm..

If you guys have a git repo, give me read access, and I'll literally send you a pull request for the suggestion here. Free of charge.

Oh FFS! I thought F.lux was wonderful, finally a way to tone down my obnoxiously bright laptop screen at night which is too bright and blue even with the brightness turned all the way down. I spent a good deal of time trying to find a way to set a simple manual timer, I mean it HAS to be there right? I must be really dumb not being able to find it, no way they'd leave out such an obvious and necessary feature? Then I find this thread and see the developer having a douchy, arrogant holier-than-thou attitude and simply refusing to give users a manual setting if they desire to use it? Look I know developing is a lot of work, I'm a developer myself, and I appreciate the effort that has gone into f.lux but this attitude is ridiculous. Adapt my schedule to fit what the software developers think is best for me? I think not, I expect software to adapt to MY needs, not the other way around.

So I'm tired of fighting with f.lux and hitting disable for an hour repeatedly like one might keep hitting the snooze button on an alarm clock so I'm uninstalling it now and will look for a similar tool that will bend to my needs rather than the other way around. It's disappointing, f.lux has so much potential, it's almost perfect save for one very serious fatal flaw.

@james_s We've been giving f.lux away since 2008 for free. Some of the comments we get from users make it all worthwhile. I regret to say that your comment doesn't fall into that category.

Nevertheless I appreciate you took the time to write to us. Future versions of f.lux will be more customizable, and I hope you'll try it again in the future. For now, there are plenty of clones (even built into the OS) who offer manual timers, and hopefully one of them will offer the features that you are looking for.

(closing this poor tired two year old zombie thread)
