Problems Installing f.lux under Ubuntu 12.04

  • Hey there.
When'll try to install f.lux after running
    'sudo apt-tget update'
    I get:
E: Could not get lock /var/lib/apt/lists/lock - open (11: Resource temporarily unavailable)
after running the installation command, my terminal is answering:
    Reading package lists... Done
    Building dependency tree
    Reading state information... Done
E: Unable to locate package fluxgui

    Can anyone help?

  • @rafneff just use the updated version from 2 years ago on the download site, you'll see it when you go the the page with the commands to install. Then you can run that as a startup application. The problem is there is no slow 60 minute transition, so I would recommend a different program if that's what you're after.

You can actually run the Windows version with Wine, but do not expand the color range, it makes the colors too strong when I did that, so you may need to use a different setting for night if you do use that option, and you won't have to restart when you click it. You may have to reopen the program though.

  • Can you recommend a different tool? On my MacBook and my Windows PC f.lux is a real helpful tool to me, is there anything comparable to it which would get me the slow transition? I don't even wanna think about running Wine on my machine.
