battery drain?

I'm not seeing this at all. Can you help me with some more information? Version of iOS, other apps you're running, anything else of note.

I'm running into this same problem on my iPhone 4s...battery life plummets around sunset, but despite all the flaws I can't give up my newfound iflux bliss :p. Like @ablaze, my iPhone is hot in my pocket by the end of the sunset phase, it seems that when the screen turns on because of the password request from flux, it doesn't turn back off (or at least it takes forever to do so).
I wonder if it has to do with the Auto-lock setting? Up until just now I had auto-lock set to "Never", I just changed it to "1 minute"—we'll see if this helps.

Yup, that could be the problem, please let me know what you find. I realize the unlock screen hack is not a great one, it's the way we could keep the app alive for screen changes. Hopefully we will be allowed to ship an update sometime.

@lorna I think that was it, my phone didn't get hot this time and my battery has only gone down 2% since I last posted. I'll report back again tomorrow once it's gone through a whole cycle, but I think that solved my problem! Hurray!

@timd.mackey If you allow notifications from f.lux it will wakeup for just a second or two, which is a lot better.
You can exclude from notification center, just allow on home screen.

I've had notifications allowed for flux since installing it, so I don't think that's the issue. Thanks for the tip though! I did turn off notification center though, thanks for the reminder.
Just hit sunset a while ago today, and the results seem to be mixed after having changed the Auto-lock setting from "never" to "30 seconds". The first two times the password request screen came up, the screen stayed on indefinitely until I turned it off several minutes later. However, after using my phone for a bit and turning the screen off, the last 2 notifications to come up disappeared after < 30 seconds. Very strange!

@timd.mackey one more thing: to enable notifications, you should make sure "do not disturb" is off, or only on when you're asleep.
This version prefers to use notifications to wake up the screen (and it will only show the lock screen when that doesn't work).
We were fixing things so it would unlock less but unfortunately we can't ship any more updates.

@herf thanks for your help! It's unfortunate that you won't be permitted to offer any updates to this! Hopefully an avenue will open up in the future.
The app seems to be behaving better today, my screen is now shutting off within 30 seconds of the notification appearing. Definitely an improvement over before!

Surely you can make this available somewhere and keep making updates. Apple can't stop you from distributing files on the internet. When they finally decide that its in their own interest to allow it on the app store it will be bug free and ready to go. In the meantime those of us who don't care what apple thinks and want to sideload it ourselves can keep getting updates, at least until the next jailbreak is released.

It turns out that Apple totally can stop someone from distributing files on the internet, but we're very much hoping that there's a better solution for the future.

As part of researching f.lux, I ran across someone saying that you can sign and sideload debs from cydia. If true, would this allow someone to install an updated version?

@josh-43 the cydia app won't work on a non jb phone, they use a different approach.
