f.lux does not work, even after reinstall
-
Yes, the color temperature always obviously remains the same even though f.lux says it was changing. I also expanded the range and restarted the laptop. Oh, and I just found out something bizarre... it works if I connect an external monitor to my laptop, and then the color is changed on both the external monitor and the laptop monitor (as it should be). What could be the problem?

Display drivers. Go to your laptop manufacturer website, and find the "support / drivers" link. It may be labeled downloads or utilities etc. Usually it will say drivers though.
You'll usually have to select your model laptop on the page though, so do that, and it's a bit easier to tell it you want drivers. Then look for "video drivers".

I have a thinkpad too and I have to say it isn't very suitable to run the f.lux on it. It just do weitd things all the time. I used it for a while too but after a while, maybe after some Windoes update, the adjustment of display brightness often stopped working when I had expanded color range.

That's probably due to a 'bad' driver from Windows Update. The most common solution on here seems to be to try different graphics drivers.

I downloaded them directly from manufacturer. After I realized it isn't okay, then I used windows update offered drivers. None helped.

Sometimes older driver versions are better than newer ones, especially if your hardware isn't exactly new.

What you do mean by "it isn't okay"?

One of our development machines is a Thinkpad, and it is running f.lux very well. I know that this can be frustrating, but bugs like this are almost always a driver problem. Alternatively there could be another problem if you have installed secondary programs that touch dimming or color. @Schneeschaf and @WellTell if you would like to post details about your device model, Windows version, and GPU driver versions we will look at the combo and see if there are any clues.

"the adjustment of display brightness often stopped working when I have expanded the color range of f.lux"
and also the screen flickers from time to time -
And my laptop is:
ThinkPad T60, Windows 7 32bit, GPU: Mobile Intel(R) 945 Express Chipset Family, driver version 8.15.10.1867, also tried ver. 8.15.10.1930
