Is there any news on the upcoming fix? @herf

I've been using this software for over 10 years now and honestly can't do without it. In the meantime I've applied @bobby's workaround and it's doing the job for now.

Everything is fine for hours, and reliably starts exactly then.
It's basically impossible to reproduce, but it's just random grey flickers, and sometimes one of my 2 monitors gets stuck at a super weird contrast (like setting gamma to 0 or 50) for a second until I click something.

The interesting thing is that this persists even when disabling f.lux or closing it entirely, but it only ever starts the instant flux tints the screen for the first time during PC runtime, which makes it 100% flux-related.

I also updated to Nvidia's new 610.47 driver at the same time as I updated f.lux, so it might also be a fault on Nvidia's side, but I still wanted to report it so it's known here

It seems that the application does not handle startup and background operation in a standard way. It is the only application I've encountered where I cannot properly configure it to start minimized and remain running in the background.

The issue is that its window appears every time Windows starts, even though I don't want it to. On the other hand, if the computer goes to sleep, the application stops running and I have to restart it manually afterward. (Latest Windows 11)

It seems like there is no way to completely disable this feature, as the long time I've used this program there are always times when it will start to change color on its own. I do not want the color to change automatically, and having a transition that cannot be disabled is another gross overreach of control by the application. I love the application but when I open my computer and turn on flux and it starts to change on its own on a seemingly inconsistent pattern makes me want to drive a fist through my computer. If there is a solution, please help, thank you. If not, if a different program that won't automatically control my computer's setting that I tailor for my eyes could be recommended, that would be greatly appreciated.

I'm running into an issue with the "use dark mode at sunset" option. When f.lux flips the system from light mode to dark mode, Windows Explorer doesn't fully make the change - some parts of the app remain in light more while others flip to dark mode (some pinned items censored for privacy):

Whenever this happens, the only way I can fix it is by either rebooting Explorer or manually toggling the app theme mode in Settings. Either workaround is annoying, unfortunately.

I've installed Auto Dark Mode in the mean time since their theme toggling code doesn't seem to have this issue - maybe their code is worth referencing. Thanks!

You may be able to open up registry.dat within the app folder from regedit, but I am not sure how it is protected. We probably should do this at the app level rather than make you do this kind of thing.

If you have an "NVIDIA control panel" can you see any color settings there, and try to reset to defaults?

f.lux does not leave any state that's permanent in the system, so usually a problem like this lives in the driver, somehow or another.
